A Name for Every Story: The Meaning Behind My Pen Names
_edited.png)
This is the name I chose by love.
Goodman is my married name, and writing under it feels like building a legacy—one I share with my husband and the life we’ve created together. I use this name for my epic fantasy and science fiction works, like The Arcane Nexus series. It represents the present version of me: grounded, creative, and fiercely imaginative. This is where I write about gods, magic, power, and possibility.

This is the name I was born with—and reclaimed.
This is my maiden name, rooted in my Mexican heritage and the women who raised me. I use it for stories inspired by telenovelas, Latinx identity, and LGBTQ+ experiences—books like Love, Unscripted, and others to come. When I write using this pen name, I honor my family, my culture, and the parts of me that once felt too much or too tender. Here, I let myself feel everything.

Ezra Walls
This is the name I made from silence—and turned into story.
Walls is a name I chose as a reinterpretation of Paredes, my father’s last name. He wasn’t there, but the absence left an imprint. Instead of carrying his name, I built something new from it. I use Ezra Walls for stories about identity, memory, and time—like my upcoming LGBTQ+ historical fiction trilogy The Echo of You, set in 1920s Harlem and stitched with love, loss, and second chances across time. This name carries the weight of what was missing—and the beauty of what I’ve made from it.
